William Beich will Present Invited Paper at SPIE Optics &
Photonics Conference in San Diego, CA
Injection-Molded
Polymer Optics in the 21st Century, presented by William Beich,
Director of New Business Development, G-S PLASTIC OPTICS. The use of plastic
optics continues to grow in popularity as optical design engineers discover
the many ways these components can manage light. William Beich will be
presenting an invited paper discussing the benefits and challenges of
polymer optics, along with a set of material properties that requires
entirely different specifications. Session 4 will be held Tuesday, 8/2/05,

Optimum Technologies Wins Production Award in
Competitive Medical Market
Optimum
Technologies (OTI), a full-service Product Development and Contract
Manufacturingcompany specializing in optical technologies for
the life sciences, has recently been awarded a production contract
from a major medical technology firm. OTI had been working with their
customer for two years to develop a new medical device. OTI supported
the program from the prototype phase through design verification and process
validation. Volume production will start soon.
G-S Plastic Optics has been a key supplier to Optimum by providing precision
polymer windows used in the instrument.
"Thanks in part to your efforts, our client recently chose Optimum
Technologies over two other firms to produce their disposable on a high-volume
production basis. They told us they recognized the value that our optical
expertise contributes. We recognize that G-S PLASTIC OPTICS expertise
in optical plastic molding is a key part of that. If the clients
clinical trials are successful, we can both hope to see some big orders
in 2003." -Randal Chinnock, President, Optimum Technologies, Inc.
Unique Tools to Better Serve You
Zeiss Surfcom 3000A
- G-S PLASTIC OPTICS acquired a Zeiss Surfcom 3000A in October of 1999.
This unique tool affords GS the ability to measure to sub-micron z-axis
accuracy with 200 millimeter x-axis travel. We are one of the only companies
in the U.S. to have this important piece of metrology equipment. Please
