G-S PLASTIC OPTICS announced that it has acquired the tooling to produce the “Standard” and “Apex” lines of injection molded optics from 3M Precision Optics in Cincinnati, OH. William Beich will Present Invited Paper at SPIE Optics & Photonics Conference in San Diego, CA

Injection-Molded Polymer Optics in the 21st Century, presented by William Beich, Director of New Business Development, G-S PLASTIC OPTICS. The use of plastic optics continues to grow in popularity as optical design engineers discover the many ways these components can manage light. William Beich will be presenting an invited paper discussing the benefits and challenges of polymer optics, along with a set of material properties that requires entirely different specifications. Optimum Technologies Wins Production Award in Competitive Medical Market

Optimum Technologies (OTI), a full-service Product Development and Contract Manufacturing company specializing in optical technologies for the life sciences, has recently been awarded a production contract from a major medical technology firm. OTI had been working with their customer for two years to develop a new medical device. OTI supported the program from the prototype phase through design verification and process validation. Volume production will start soon.

G-S Plastic Optics has been a key supplier to Optimum by providing precision polymer windows used in the instrument.

This unique tool affords GS the ability to measure to sub-micron z-axis accuracy with 200 millimeter x-axis travel.
